Environmental Sealing

HTV Vapor-Lock™

In heavy industry, one thing never changes: the need to contain, house, and dispose of air-born environmental contaminants. Canopy Recovery and Bag House systems have long been the staple of air-born contaminant collection for the steel industry.

Although these systems themselves provide adequate protection to the environment, the inherent problem comes in the failure of joint closure materials historically used in the construction of the canopy housing and roof decking of the Melt Shop.
When corrugated roof and wall structures are constructed, the edge gaps where the corrugation meets a 90 degree angle must be sealed. However, the materials traditionally used for this process (lightweight neoprene rubber blocks) dry out and crack when exposed to the constant high temperature and vibration stresses of Melt Shop operations.

When this occurs, the air-born contaminants trapped at the interior roof level of the canopy and Melt Shop ceiling are pushed through the corrugated gaps and released directly into the atmosphere. This type of contamination leak is readily identifiable during heats and further traceable by evidence of the contaminants leaving streaks on the exterior surface of the building. If these conditions are not rectified, fines and reduced production allowances may become the result.

Fire-Stop Systems’ HTV Vapor-Lock™ joint closure material (for High Temperature and Vibration resistance) is designed and field tested to withstand the rigors of long term exposure to Melt Shop conditions. The complete system is installed DURING PRODUCTION so there is never a need to schedule a cost prohibitive shut down or wait for a maintenance down turn. And the system is GUARANTEED.

Single source, expertly installed, high temperature and vibration protection is now available and guaranteed on a long term basis. To find out more about this unique and long overdue solution to your facilities environmental challenges, or to schedule a cost free field visit by one of our project specialists, contact Fire-Stop Systems today.
